Klawer Cellars first out of the starting block with 2016 Sauvignon Blanc

If it’s true that the early bird catches the worm, as the old saying goes, then Klawer Cellars is poised to do just that, metaphorically speaking, after having just released the earliest wine of the 2016 vintage, a crisp and fresh Sauvignon Blanc.

“This is a wine made for pure enjoyment,” says Andries Blake, General Manager at Klawer Cellars. “It has ripe, tropical flavours with grassy undertones and should be enjoyed well chilled on its own or with fish, white meats and pasta dishes.”

The grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc come from the Trawal area of the West Coast Wine Region and the 15 year old vineyards produced about 12 tonnes per hectare. The grapes were picked on January 6 and the wine was bottled on the 3rd of February.

The Klawer Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2016 has an alcohol content of 13% per volume, acidity of 6,2 and a pH of 3,3.

The wine sells for about R35 at the cellar and will be available at Pick n Pay outlets soon.
