22 fires for Heritage day at Klawer cellars

It was our 3^rd annual Braaiday competition we held at the cellar, & what a success it was. Our aim was, bigger & better, and we believe we accomplished that.

We had Wicus van der Merwe for entertainment, & what a lovely show he gave us. He entertained us with hilarious jokes & music for the dancing feet! The weather was perfect, with a ±32° and no wind at all.

To cool off, we had a slippy slide for the kids & Riekietiek the clown for their entertainment. We had spit & roosterkoeke free of charge, just to fill up those empty stomachs.

In 2016 we held our first Braai day, & 15 teams competed against each other. This year we had 22 teams in overall. We decided to get 2 more judges as well. The judges are from this area, & therefore we decided that the contestants & the judges aren’t allowed to have any contact with each other. We want to thank our judges for all the effort they’ve put in to choose our top 5.

As for the 22 teams, each and every one received a prize, either cash or a mixed case of lovely Klawer wines! Some of the teams had some interesting names, like  “Weskus Bosluis”, “Kongoboom Olifante” & “Taai braai”.

The top 5 teams, followed by their scores given by the judges & their cash prizes.

1^st  - Klawer Kole 40/50 R10 000
2^nd - Mondjievol 38/50 R5 000
3^rd - Krulouwens 37/50 R3 000
4^th - Braailiant Braaiers 36/50 R2 000
5^th - Lekker man 35/50 R1 000
