On the 15th of June, we will be celebrating international Chenin Blanc day. For the whole month of June, we highlighted this amazing cultivar on our social media posts.
We are situated in the Olifantsriver region, where this specific grape is very popular and still in high demand. South Africa only provides 4% of the wine in the world, and it may not seem much, but we still provide half of the Chenin Blanc in the world, which places us first, followed by France, with only a quarter of the worlds Chenin.
We are proud to have two different ranges of Chenin at our cellar, one for each taste - easy drinking and then also the more full-bodied white wine. We also have our “easy drinking” Klawer Chenin Blanc in our vino sacci’s, for the travelers or people who would like to enjoy one or two glasses of wine instead of a whole bottle!
Johannes Mellet, our viticulturist, talks about one of the most well-known cultivars in our region and in South Africa, Chenin Blanc. With a glass of Chenin in his hand and the lovely winter sun on his skin, Johannes surely is in his happy place. WyW20lwG7TY
