Klawer Cellars Harvest Report: Week 4

We are very thankful for the consistently
healthy red grapes that we receive, with true cultivar aromas, beautiful fruit
and character. On Friday 17 February more than a third of the red grape harvest
has already been taken in.
Trawal is currently still receiving Chenin Blanc and Colombar. The last block Chardonnay was harvested on Friday.
Christo Beukes, assistant winemaker, tasted a few 2012 wines and herewith shares his observations:
“A few wine tanks and cultivars stood out. The following flavours came out strongly: Colombar with a fruit cocktail aroma, Chardonnay with an overripe banana aroma, Chenin Blanc with a lovely guava aroma and Sauvignon Blanc with a beautiful green and dusty aroma.”
